Musequality World Busk 2012
Musequality World Busk 2012
To coincide with Small Charity Week the world’s streets will resound with music as buskers everywhere turn out to entertain the local crowds and raise money for Musequality from 11th-17th June. This year’s theme is ‘Extreme Busking’. eg. The Highest/Lowest Altitude Busk, deepest busk -underwater? Can you beat the Rothera Research Station’s furthest south busking record in Antarctica? Can you beat the aircraft carrier, HMS Illustrious, busk of 2009?
Musequality is a social-change charity, founded in Chiswick in 2007, that supports music education projects for children from disadvantaged and marginalised communities in South Africa, Uganda, Thailand, and India. The charity works with street children, orphans, children who are disabled or have special needs, children at risk, and those whose futures are compromised simply because they were born into poverty.
Musequality encourages a wide variety of music in its projects, with particular emphasis on the local musical culture and communal music-making. Children involved in these projects have an opportunity to regain their self-respect, rebuild their confidence and develop life-skills that will lead to better futures for themselves and their communities.

Southampton Policy Day Event
Southampton Policy Day Event
The Southampton Communities Team will be taking part in Policy Day on June 13th through an online live chat for anyone who wants to ask the team a question around Policy or community or voluntary work in Southampton. Sessions will take place in the morning from 11.30-12.30 and 1.30-2.30pm.
The first session will include questions on policy and why community groups need policies, what policies they should have in place and how they adapt them to make them relevant to their group. The second session will focus more on community grants; why do grant applications often need to be submitted with the group’s policies and about the grant giving policy itself, why it is as it is.
People will be able to ask questions on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/southamptonscommunities and join in the existing discussion. They will also be able to pose questions via Twitter @SouthamptonsCom for the first session and @SouthamptonFund for the second grants session, both will use the #sotonpolicy hashtag.
In addition to this www.southampton.gov.uk/communityresourcesv will release templates, how to guides and model policies local community groups can access and use to help their community group grow.
